A Tool of the "Radical Left"

No not Cindy Sheehan, although if you were to believe the smear campaign being waged against her by right-winged media, you’d think she was a brainless hand puppet for MoveOn.org - instead of an articulate, intelligent grieving mother who is asking a question THEY CAN”T ANSWER. No this tool of the ‘Radical Left” is Republican Senator Chuck Hagel. Rarely has the evil manipulations of the “Left” been more apparent.

Hagel must be a pawn of Michael Moore or Jane Fonda because he has the audacity to compare Iraq with Vietnam and then say that the White House was “disconnected from the reality and losing the war.” Certainly no self-respecting Republican politician was dare utter those words of his own free will. That stinging critique would certainly, as Charles Krauthhammer wrote about Cindy Sheehan,  hurt our troops and endanger our troops.

When Senator Hagel says that “Maybe the vice president can explain the increase in casualties we’re taking,” it must be a Manchurian moment, because we all know that that kind of talk proves that someone has “has thrown in with the most radical elements in this country,” as Bill O’Reilly so astutely surmises of Ms. Sheehan.

But perhaps the most damming proof that Senator Hagel is a traitor comes from the following statement:

“The casualties we’re taking, the billion dollars a week we’re putting in there, the kind of commitment we’ve got — we’re not going to be able to sustain it,”

That borders on sacrilege. How dare Chuck Hagel question the sacrifice in either lives or dollars that our leadership is Willing to make on our behalf. Just because he was an Army infantry squad leader in Vietnam (and not protecting the great state of Texas!) and he sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee gives him no right, no reason and no authority to point out the  obvious. He is nothing more  than a:

“poster child for surrender” and has “has further encouraged the conviction of our Islamofascist enemies that, as they expected, an indolent and self-indulgent United States cannot stand up to determined, ruthless foes.”

Frank J. Gaffeny Jr., Washington Times columnist on Cindy Sheehan  - August 16th

Even his stance that President Bush should have altered his busy vacation schedule (today marks the day he is officialy the most ‘well rested” President in history - and in 3 less years than Ronnie - woot!) and met with Cindy Sheehan is wrongheaded. As Kathleen Parker so eloquently puts it Bush

“can’t [meet with Sheehan] because he’s the president of the United States, because we’re at war, and because every move he makes causes ripples around the world. Ripples that, depending on other circumstances, can get other sons and daughters killed”

Certainly the deaths are all on Chuck Hagel and Cindy Sheehan’s head. Just because the war should never have happened, has been poorly planned from the start, and shows few promising signs of getting better, we need to place the blame where is belongs.

On the Left.

Because the left started this war.

They let Bush get elected in the first place. There is no sin bigger than that.

Prairie Chapel Road
By Eric Folkerth

The grieving mother pitched her tent,
On Prairie Chapel Road...

With questions for the President
On Prairie Chapel Road...

A host of pilgrims came along
To Prairie Chapel Road...

Raised their voices, sang their songs
On Prairie Chapel Road...

You can mow down the crosses,
but you can’t mow down our hope,
‘Cause the truth will always greet
The light of day.
And we know what the cost is,
In this darkness, where we grope,
But we know that peace
Will be the better way...
On Prairie Chapel Road...

Around the nation, all eyes turned
To Prairie Chapel Road...

To mark the lessons we had learned
On Prairie Chapel Road...

People who had found their voice
On Prairie Chapel Road...

Millions more who joined their choice
On Prairie Chapel Road...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In every city, and small town,
There’s a Prairie Chapel Road

Where two sides of the road are found,
On Prairie Chapel Road...

And we may always disagree
On Prairie Chapel Road...

But the right to do keeps us free
On Prairie Chapel Road...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The grieving mother pitched her tent,
On Prairie Chapel Road...

With questions for the President
On Prairie Chapel Road...

Hear, Hear! Good Job.

Posted by: Rich | Aug 20, 2005 12:51:09 AM

Steve,

Attack the woman all you want! It's a free country. Her motives are not driven by the popularity contest that our politicians are driven by.

If I were Bush and leading by example I would have pulled her in the first day she showed up, if anything, just to let her scream. To talk about her son, to console her, to hold her and mourn with her.

That would have been the right thing to do, all politics aside, she lost her son. If you met someone who just told you they lost someone you would hold them and try your best to comfort them right?

Regardless of politics this woman had a right to be seen by the president. The president could have foregone the fund raiser to speak with her, that is compassion.

If I remember correctly he interupted his last vacation to save a dead woman why could he not do the same for a woman who's son is dead?

It doesn't matter what you think about Cindy Sheehan, the point is that other, respected, Republican officials are finally starting to grow some balls and question this stupidity. Chuck Hagel must then be considered as unAmerican and Leftist as Cindy Sheehan for questioning this administration OR that line of reasoning is complete BS from the start. So - are ya ready to call Chuck Hagel a left Islamofacist sympathizer?

Dichead--I mean TB wrote: "ChosenOne, Why do you hate freedom?"

To even make this statement makes you an idiot. You asshole. I'm not even going to give you the time of day to even answer a question like you put forth.

I'll say this once again. Although all I'm doing is wasting my time little man (TB). Cindy Shitheean can protest all the fuck she wants. I hope the woman dies protesting for all I care. HER SON HAD NONE, I REPEAT, NONE, of the views she had on this war. So, she should SHUT THE FUCK UP as far as HE, HER SON, is concerened. Her son would have NEVER EVER shown his face at one of those rallies. BUT, he would not interferred with HER right to protest BECAUSE that is what the fuck he was fighting to protect! Her freedom of choice. Cindy Shitheean has NO right to demand a meeting with the President you stupid piece of shit! You are one dumb mother fucker.

Now dickhead, if you can't understand what I just said you are even more STUPID then I ever fucking figured.

Thanks for answering for me Steve. Jump in anytime you wish!

Posted by: TheChosenOne | Aug 20, 2005 9:48:57 AM

Are you guys really brothers?

That's pretty intense...

Bastard, there would be no real sense of political gain if he met Sheehan. Her version of reality is way out there. You ever stop to think that her son may have joined the military to get away from her? Of course, I HAVE NO PROOF of that last statement but think about it? You have this over-protective mother who probably pushed her son away or way too hard. He grew up in Vacaville where there is nothing to do. Nothing fun, just a place to stop between Sacramento and San Francisco and get gas. He probably didn't excel as much as she wanted him to and so he joined the military to make something of himself. She probably resented him for it because she probably was of the opinion that the military was a step to nowhere. A lot of people I know that came out of high school went to the military because there were no real choices. Vacaville has a lot of similarities with where I grew up. California is full of towns outside of LA, SF or Sactown where there really is nothing except for big box retail work or fast food. College can just be too far out of reach. I have some shred of sympathy of Sheehan and her grief but dude, to say the "unjust" war on terror (Iraq) caused her son to die and it's all Bush's fault is ludicrous. Since, Bastard, you think the way you do, it seems you are waiting for Bush to make the Clintonesque speech and say, "I feel your pain." No gonna happen. It shouldn't happen. It won't happen.

On the one hand its good to see Hagel com out and give his party a reality check, but it is now rumored that the GOP is going to push for an early with draw before election season begins so that they don't get creamed at the polls. The end result of an early withdrawl is going to be an even more damaging to America's trust worthiness as far as Iraqi's are conserned because they have been getting the shaft since the Iran Iraq war when we backed Saddam and then sold weapons to Iran on the back water, we then also told them to rise up in revolution after Gulf one and then abandoned the resistance to the slaughter of Saddam when it was feared that that could hurt George Senior's bid for re-election. And now we are going to leave Iraq a smoking heap of rubble so that the GOP will not lose its foothold in congress. So my question is when are we going to stop fucking these people in the ass? The policy in Iraq is screwed up because we do not seem to be re-building infrastructure as fast as we take it out. Which is one of the major motivators for fueling the insurgency. If you remeber earlier this year we LEVELED Falluja. If we could just get people back into their homes, with running water an electricity, and a functioning civil society with commerce and medical facilities we might actually be able to gain their trust and respect. Breaking a window and handing some on 20 buck for it does nothing, pushing the Army corp of Engineers to step up its efforts however will make a lasting and valuable impression. We will can transistion from being seen as an occupying force routing out insurgents to becoming a rebuilding force putting peoples lives back together.

Steve,

Yes, 100% brothers. Matter-a-fact, I have to fly out there (N.Y) next month for 1 1/2 weeks. Should be an interesting time! lol. One of us might end up killing the other. lmao.

"questioning this administration" ! !
Is that legal?

Posted by: HikerHobo | Aug 20, 2005 7:05:34 PM

Hey Hiker - of course not. I assume that Senator Hagel and myself will be sharing a cell anytime now.

Posted by: The Cranky Liberal | Aug 20, 2005 9:29:24 PM

According to Theodore Roosevelt, it's legal and necessary...

So much anger and hate from the "The Chosen One"

Posted by: Bob | Aug 21, 2005 1:48:09 AM

I don't care what you think about Cindy Sheehan's ideas or mission, but you have to admire her guts. I grew up in Texas and I can tell you, August down there is damn rough.

Honestly, though, I don't think Sheehan was actually the subject of the post. She is there only as a comparison. The subject was really Chuck Hagel's ability to either view reality or expose himself as a liberal prick (depending on whose side you're on). Since he did serve in Vietnam and earned two Purple Hearts, I'm sure the Bush clan will now say that he is a really big lying liberal prick.

But then Hagel always has had trouble toeing the line of BS. In May of last year, he said, "I think you've got a president who is not schooled, educated, experienced in foreign policy in any way, versus his father. I think he was philosophically, intellectually more in tune with the neoconservatives'approach to 'let's go get them, and we'll worry about it later."

It does my heart good to be reminded that not all Republicans are stupid and evil.

Xpat - THANK YOU, I know the post was rushed, but I was starting to think the whole point was lost. That was exactly my point.

And no not all Republicans are stupid and evil. Just the ones in charge.

This question is for Chosen One and "Steve".

Why do you both hate freedom?

Posted by: Brad | Aug 21, 2005 11:32:59 AM

Again... Copying the others Brad, come up with your own material.

Seems you are the one that wants to shut up the our dissenting opinions of what is written here. Isn't that a violation of free speech?

Why do you "think" we "hate" freedom?

Posted by: steve | Aug 21, 2005 1:34:49 PM

Why do you hate America, Steve?

Posted by: Brad | Aug 21, 2005 2:27:13 PM

No Steve, Free Speech is the right to express your opinion, not the right to express it WHEREVER you wish. Not that we care, but I do want to point out that very important distinction.

You see, on this site, and my own, we sometimes get a rather obnoxious person who passes even our rather lenient requirements for civility. That person can have get booted. It isn't censorship, it's quality control. You still have tie right to express your opinion on your own site - we'd fight to protect that right till death - just not always on ours.

Now, see the difference? Understand it? Good. I'm so tired of that "I thought liberals believed in free speech" crack it isn't funny.

Posted by: The Cranky Liberal | Aug 21, 2005 2:34:37 PM

Well, in defense of "Steve", he is doing exactly what Republicans do best: lying then trying to change the subject when he has been proved wrong over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Posted by: Brad | Aug 21, 2005 3:37:10 PM

Brad:

Your accusations are foolish and unsubstantiated.

Posted by: steve | Aug 21, 2005 7:19:48 PM

Steve:

Stop hating America.

Love,
Brad
