Terri Really Isn't That Important
George W. Bush commenting on the Terri Shriavo case.
"In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life,"
George W. Bush March 21, 2005
REALLY?????? Then while Governor of Texas why did you pass this law?
Texas Futile Care law which expressly gives hospitals the right to remove life support if the patient could not pay and there was no hope of revival, regardless of the patient's family's wishes.
Under this law, a baby was removed from life support against his mother's wishes in Texas just this past week. A 68 year old man was given a temporary reprieve by the Texas courts a few days later. Gee that guy was lucky that atleast one hospital thought he was a keeper plus he could pay.
The truth is George W. Bush and the radical right don't really care about Terri or the 6 month old baby that was pulled off life support. They only care about the 25 seats up for grabs in the 2006 election as explained here.
Hey, right to lifers where was your prayer vigil for this case?

This case has a well documented history through the courts. I have no earthly idea why, exactly, congress is overstepping into the court's area on this. Why Bush and company don't just cut the constitution up and use it for toilet paper is beyond me.

Need to get your base up in arms? Your base comprised of morons? Gay issue all played out? Have control of the government but haven't been a very good steward? How's about the Pro-Life crowd? One simple rule: the only life their concerned with is life that has yet to begin or is at it's end. Hmmm... abortion is always a fun issue, but it's so old... hmmm... Hey! I know! How's about that Quinlin girl? She died years ago? Oh. And other Quinlins out there? Hey! There's one in Florida! Nevermind that Florida is stuffed full of the elderly and infirmed and could not possibly keep them all alive on life support forever! That's not the issue! We just need one vegetablized young person... hmmm... Hey! Who's this Shiavo girl? This story's been going on forever without much note... Let's make a big stink about it! This way the moron Bible Belter idiots, whom we will be sending off to debtors prisons what with the new bankruptcy law, will never know what hit 'em!
Hooray for morons! Long live the GOP!

they need to let this case go already, there are far more important things going on the world that are not getting half as much attention.
I ofetn wonder if this women was a black women in California or New York, it would prolly not recieve half the attention that it is now. Politics..grrr.

You missed the main part. In Texas it is people who can't pay. Terri Schiavo has people willing to pay millions to keep her alive. Therefore, her life is more valuable

I think the main part isn't the money. Its the fact that our president is speaking out both ends. On one hand, in his state, he advocates the right to die but links it to money. On the other hand he stands side by side the right to lifers and takes the moral high ground.
And again, the sheet is pulled over the American eyes.

ID LIKE TO KNOW HOW A COMMON PIECE OF TRASH LIKE MICHAEL SHRIAVO CAN HAVE MORE POWER THEN THE CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT. I WONT EVER FORGET THAT WE STARVED A DISABLED WOMEN TO DEATH IN OUR COUNTRY.
I PRAISE TOM DELAY FOR TAKING SUCH A BIG STAND ON THIS ISSUE. AT LEAST SOMEONE STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE. WE CANT JUST START TERMINATING DISABLED PEOPLE.
TWO WEEKS, ALL THAT TIME, AND NO ONE SAVED THAT WOMEN, WHAT IS THIS COUNTRY COMING TO.
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE SCHINDLER FAMILY,THIS IS A TRAGEDY, THAT COULD OF BEEN PREVENTED.
